Having a Real Affiliate Strategy is the Difference Between Failure and Success
Posted on August 4th, 2009 1 commentDo you have an affiliate strategy in place? Or are you spinning your wheels without a plan?
The joy of working from home (either part time or full time) is that YOU dictate what you do and how you do it. But that freedom lands many people in trouble.
Without some sort of basic plan (at the very least), you might end up being very unproductive. Sure, some people can work fine just by sitting down at the computer and deciding there and then what they will work on. But most people are not so lucky.
It has been said time and time again that writing down a list of tasks is the best way to make progress. I think it’s a great start, but of course you have to kick yourself into gear to actually get the tasks down without procrastination.
Having an affiliate strategy involves 2 things:
- Daily plans
- Long term plans
Your daily plan should consist of some tasks to complete just for that day. The number and complexity of the tasks will depend upon how much time you have. Don’t overload yourself with a list of 30 things to do today if you know you can’t do that much – it seems too daunting and you’ll probably get none of them done. Instead just aim to do 2 or 3 things and once you’ve done them it feels great to check them off!
Your longer term plans will involve working out your marketing and content plans. You should note down your domains, plus your web 2.0 plan, PPC plan (if it exists) and so on. So if you plan on having 10 sites in a particular niche within 6 weeks, write that down. Your daily plans will then consist of making that 6 week plan work.
Having an affiliate strategy is of vital importance so make sure you sit down and note down what you want to achieve on a per day basis and over the longer term as well.

Your post is very clear and to the point. I enjoyed reading it and agree with you that planning is very important. I make a daily list and scratch off things as I get them done. But I will also have to start a longer term list and set more goals. Thanks.
