Not a Resolution, a 2010 Goal – Work Less Hours

I admit, I don’t like the concept of new years resolutions. I figure, why does someone have to wait until January 1 to say they’ll start a new project, start exercising, stop eating junk food and so on. I just don’t get it! To me, it’s a sign of weakness.
The best time to start something [...]

Niche Blogging Institute Review

I don’t talk about IM products much, simply because most of them are crap. But when Andrew Hansen releases something, I take notice.
Andrew has given me a sneak preview of NBI before its release to the public in a couple of days time. I have to say, I am impressed (and I don’t say things [...]

My Faith Renewed in Amazon Associates

How many newbie affiliates sign up to the Amazon affiliate program as their first? I think it was probably the first program I signed up with along with Commission Junction back in the day.
But there is one problem with Associates: the commission rates are relatively low compared with other merchants.

2009 has flown by and since end of year is coming up in a few months, I’ve been looking back on the year gone by to see how much ground I’ve made.
Although my income has been good, I’m disappointed that I have not created as many NEW sites as I should have… so from now [...]

Why You Shouldn’t Trust Most Internet Marketing “Experts”

Guru bashing is a popular online sport these days. It has become the in thing to talk about how people selling products in the IM niche are just churning out rubbish and that you should avoid everything at all costs.
So when I decided to write a post about internet marketing experts I didn’t want to [...]

Niche Marketing on Crack – Still Useful Today for Making $ Thousands Per Year

Niche Marketing on Crack is a report that was released in 2007 by Andrew Hansen (the owner of Firepow blogging software).
Now you might think that a guide from early 2007 would now be so out of date it’s not funny – and in 99% of cases that’s true!
But this one has stood the test of [...]

  • Taking a Breather – Affiliate Burnout

    Posted on April 7th, 2010 4 comments

Not only have I not posted here on my blog for a while, I also haven’t been doing much work at all lately (hey I never said EVERY post here was going to be motivational ;) )

    Why?
The simple reason is that I’ve been feeling rather burnt out over the past few months. From April last year until around February this year I undertook an extraordinary amount of work to build up my online business. I wrote hundreds of articles, set up countless new sites, promoted, built links, researched new products and niches and so on. There just comes a time where you, at least I, need to step away and take a breather. Dare I say it, I became bored of these tasks.

  • Who Says Article Marketing Doesn’t Work?

    Posted on February 28th, 2010 4 comments

View any internet marketing forum and you’ll no doubt find a new post every week stating that article marketing doesn’t work. Who writes these posts? Usually people who have submitted a couple of articles, didn’t make $1000 from them overnight, and then gave up and decided that article marketing “doesn’t work”. Read the rest of this article »

  • Is It Good to Target 1 Keyword Per Niche Site?

    Posted on February 23rd, 2010 5 comments

I recently received an email from a blog reader and thought I’d expand my response into a blog post.

I hope he doesn’t mind me sharing part of his email here :)

"With google sniper, I am mainly focusing around 1 keyword per site. But I am curious what you do for your niche sites. I like google sniper, but I am thinking I could expand these sites to include multiple keywords, but I haven’t tried yet.

  • Not a Resolution, a 2010 Goal – Work Less Hours

The best time to start something new was yesterday, but if that didn’t happen, then start today. As you know, most people don’t carry through on their new years resolutions for long anyway!

So whilst this isn’t a resolution of sorts, I do have a goal I will achieve in 2010. It’s a simple one.

I will work LESS hours on my online business in 2010 Read the rest of this article »

I haven’t posted for a while and I do apologize for that. I have been a little busy gallivanting around the countryside lately.

I just spent the last week or so in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane catching 3 concerts of my favourite band on the planet – Pearl Jam.

  • WP installed via Fantastico is Blocking Your Site from Search Engines

    Posted on October 26th, 2009 6 comments

This is a quick warning to double check your Privacy settings in Wordpress.

It seems that Wordpress 2.8 (and now the latest 2.9.2) versions are defaulting the privacy setting to “I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors” when installed via Fantastico in cPanel.

This means that your robots.txt file is set to block search engine spiders from crawling your site. This is obviously not ideal and it baffles me why WP have chosen to now make this the default setting! Read the rest of this article »

  • Are You Creating Large Sites For the Sake of It?

Posted on October 22nd, 2009 No comments

I just watched this video of Matt Cutts talking about why very large websites don’t necessarily get seen as authority by Google – its not about size of the site, its about the quality of your back links.

Are you creating very large sites with thousands of pages just for the sake of it? You are probably wasting your time.
